VOTING IN THE ELECTIONS TO THE SEIMAS OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA 2008

We are inviting all citizens of the Republic of Lithuania residing in the USA to vote in the upcoming general Seimas elections on October 12, 2008.

The embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the USA in Washington, DC, the Consulates General of the Republic of Lithuania in Chicago and New York City, and the Honorary Consulates in Cleveland, Los Angeles, and Seattle will organize the Seimas 2008 elections in the USA. Lithuanian citizens will be able to vote by mail or in person at one of the mentioned consular institutions.

 

Voter registration

In order to verify the list of the voters, all citizens of the Republic of Lithuania residing in the USA and wishing to vote in the Seimas 2008 elections have to fill out a voter’s registration form (in word or pdf format) and send it to the Lithuanian Embassy in Washington, DC or to an appropriate Lithuanian consular institution according to their place of residence (please reffer to  the list below)  till September 1, 2008.

Getting the form

You can get the registration form by personally visiting the consular institutions listed below, as well as by visiting the websites of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Washington, DC (www.ltembassyus.org), the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in Chicago (www.konsulatas.org), and the Consulate General of the Republic of Lithuania in New York City (www.ltconsny.org).

The voter registration forms will be mailed to those Lithuanian citizens who voted in the last election and have not changed their place of residence after we receive the official list of voters from  the Central electoral committee of the Republic of Lithuania.

We kindly ask all citizens of the Republic of Lithuania who wish to vote in the Seimas 2008 elections, to send the completed registration forms to the Lithuanian Embassy in Washington, DC or to the one of the mentioned consular institutions in the USA (according to the place of residence) by September 1, 2008. The forms may be mailed, send by fax or by email.

Only those Lithuanian citizens who are planning to vote in the USA are asked to register with the Lithuanian Embassy in Washington, DC or the Lithuanian Consulates. Lithuanian citizens who plan to be in Lithuania on the voting day (October 12, 2008) are asked to register in Lithuania.

The citizens of the Republic of Lithuania will be able to vote by mail or by coming to the Lithuanian Embassy or the other Consular institutions. Please note that you will only be able to vote in the place where you registered. Voting in person will be possible only at the polling places at the Consular institutions mentioned before.
