2009 U.S.-Baltic Confluence
Forum, Exchange & Gala

Summary

The 2009 U.S.- Baltic Confluence, Forum, Exchange and Gala will be the eighth annual silent auction and dinner hosted by The U.S.-Baltic Foundation.  The Gala has become the premiere national annual event in Washington, D.C. for friends of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.  In addition to celebrating the strong and important friendship between the U.S. and Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the gala serves as USBF’s largest annual fundraiser.  The funds from the silent auction go toward supporting the programs of the Foundation. 

At the gala dinner, the Foundation honors political, cultural and business leaders who have contributed to the development of the Baltic region, and promoted stronger transatlantic relations.  Previous gala honorees and distinguished guests have included Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, former Latvian President Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus, former Estonian President Lennart Meri, former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski, philanthropist Winthrop Rockefeller and others.

WASHINGTON, DC – Maria Kivisild Ogrydziak, Chairman of the U.S.- Baltic Foundation announced today that Valdis Zatlers, President of Latvia, will headline a three-day series of Baltic cultural and business development events on May 14-17 at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel, 1127 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC.  Sponsored by The U.S.- Baltic Foundation (USBF), the 2009 gala weekend will feature a business conference, an exchange program summit, a silent auction and black-tie gala dinner to highlight the special and growing ties between the U.S. and the Baltic States. 

The U.S.-Baltic Foundation is an educational resource for U.S. policy-makers and the public.  A national organization that unites all American friends of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, USBF develops and implements programs to strengthen democracy and free markets in the Baltics.  The Foundation also introduces the Baltics to new American audiences with a series of public affairs programs.
